As an admin, you can control which Boost Student activity types are available to teachers and students at your site.
- When you disable an activity type, it's removed from the activity selection menu — teachers won't see it.
- This lets you keep the experience focused on the types your school or district actually uses.
How to manage Boost Student activity types
- In the Admin Portal, go to Manage Student Activities — In the left sidebar, select Manage Student Activities.
- Select the Activity Types tab — At the top of the page, select the Activity Types tab (next to School Hours).
- Select a site — If you manage multiple sites, use the Site dropdown at the top of the page to choose which organization you want to configure.
- Toggle activity types on or off — Each activity type has a toggle switch. Turn it off to hide that type from teachers and students, or turn it on to make it available.
- Click Save changes — Your selections take effect immediately for that site.
Note: Disabling an activity type removes it from the selection menu on the Brisk Extension going forward. It does not affect activities that are already created or in progress.
If your toggles are grayed out and you can't make changes, one of the following may apply:
- You have View-only access — contact an admin with edit access.
- You can’t make changes at the school level because your district does not allow overrides — contact your district admin.
District-level settings
District admins have additional controls for managing activity types across all schools.
Set a School Setting Management Policy
When configuring activity types at the district level, you can choose how your settings apply to schools:
- Recommended default (schools can override) — Schools inherit the district's settings by default, but school admins can customize their own. This is the default policy.
- Forced (schools cannot override) — All schools must use the district's settings. School admins can view but not change them.
To apply the Forced policy, select it from the policy options on the Activity Types settings page and save.
- School admins will immediately lose the ability to modify their activity type settings.
Edit a specific school's settings
As a district admin with edit access, you can configure any school's activity types directly. Select the school from the Site dropdown, make your changes, and save.
Reset to district defaults
If you’re a school admin and your school has customized its activity type settings and you want to go back to what the district has configured:
- Click Reset to district default.
- Confirm in the dialog that appears.
Your school's custom settings will be replaced with the district's current configuration. When a school is using the district's settings, a District default badge appears next to each activity type.
Note: If you reset to the district’s settings, you will have to add back your school-specific customizations.
